2013 Sikkim State Awardee “Sewa Samman” a Research Scholar
from Jorethang, South Sikkim Yougan Tamang presented his paper on “CHANGES IN RELIGION & ITS IMPACT ON HEALTH OF TAMANGS OF
SIKKIM ,INDIA” at
Manchester University hall. Opening ceremony of "An
International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Science World Congress
2013 Conference" was held on 5th.August.2013. His presentation
was hugely applauded by the attendees in the conference and they had asked lot of queries about the tribe and the state of Sikkim. They asked
about the ethnographic details of Tamang tribe because it was completely new
tribe to them. Besides, attendees have shown their interest to study more on
Tamang tribe and state of Sikkim.
Queries specially asked by lots of professors from India and United Kingdom itself,
and was highly appreciated Yougan Tamang’s answers and presentation
.
Earlier Yougan Tamang visited
London city and promoted Sikkim State as a whole and his community when meeting
with distinguished persons of London. He will be leaving Manchester on 11th.August.2013. He is the active member of Sikkim Tamang Youth Society also.
