ANCIENT NEPALESE TAMANG SHAMAN

Tamang Shaman's (Jankri’s) ritual costume. ‘The peacock feathers and long red and white scarves serve to represent the primordial rainbow bridge that once connected earth with heaven during the truth era [satya yug]. They are symbols of the shaman’s ability to undertake trance journeys and during soul journeys they are used by shamans as magical flight path axes that connect Earth to the upper and lower worlds.
